Robert Harrison Gibbs, Jr., Esq.
Robert Harrison Gibbs, Jr., Esq., an Associate with the firm since 2005, has counseled health care clients on a variety of legal issues, including state and federal regulatory compliance, third-party payment, Certificate of Public Need (COPN) applications, medical staff, facility licensing, facility operations, and professional board disciplinary actions.
Mr. Gibbs received his bachelor’s degrees in both History and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2003 where he studied as a Benjamin Rush Bioethics Scholar. Prior to joining Mellette PC Mr. Gibbs clerked for the Honorable Walter S. Felton of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
An active member in the Williamsburg community, Mr. Gibbs serves as Vice President of the Tidewater Aids Community Task Force. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Williamsburg Aids Network. He has volunteered with the William and Mary Law School Legal Skills Program and regularly participates in the Williamsburg Bar’s Legal Outreach Clinics.
Although raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma, he has long family ties to Virginia. Mr. Gibbs currently lives in Williamsburg with his wife Marta, an Oceanography researcher, and his two children.
