Practice Areas

Mellette PC specializes in a wide range of health law practice areas to help our clients cope with the increasing burden of regulatory issues facing all health care providers, from individuals to large organizations and institutions. In addition to Certificate of Public Need (COPN) representation, for example, we review day-to-day operations and operational policies to ensure that our clients remain in compliance with the latest local, state, and federal helath care regulations.

We conduct audits and training, covering both facility and operational compliance, as well as advising clients on self-disclosure requirements and other regulatory issues. Our attorneys handle a variety of transactional issues, such as change of ownership and financing documentation, and advise clients on joint ventures, contracts, and other transactional activities with accompanying regulatory issues.

We handle Medicare and Medicaid appeal issues and represent health care providers in government and corporate payor disputes. We also provide advice, assistance, and representation for health regulatory board and licensing issues. We are experienced in medical staff and peer review issues and help our clients by advising them, preparing bylaws and review findings, and representing them in hearing committees and Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) proceedings and appeals.
